The Akaka Bill
The Native Hawaiian Recognition bill in Congress is also known locally in Hawai'i as the Akaka bill. The latest version was introduced in Congress on February 11, 2003 and has bill number S.344 in the Senate and H.R.665 in the House. It is the same bill that died in the previous 107th Congress (it was then known as S.746 and H.R.617).
